David Bertram signs to Blink for music videos and ads in UK
Blink have announced the signing of UKMVA-winning French director David Bertram to its roster for music video and commercial representation in London and Amsterdam.
Bertram's video for electronic duo Bicep's Saku won the Best VFX in a Video at this year's UK Music Video Awards, and was nominated in several other categories at UKMVAs 2021.
In the past 18 months, during which time he focussed on making music videos, Bertram has also directed two outstanding videos for Wassailer - Son and Song For Elsa. Prior to that, his music video directing debut for Data's Don't Sing in 2015 helped him to win the YDA at Cannes.
Bertram started his career as an advertising creative in Paris before making the switch to directing. “David is a powerhouse of talent and ideas," says Blink MD Paul Weston. "His experience to date has given him such a rounded understanding of being a director I’m really excited to be introducing such an exceptional talent to the UK.”
Laura Northover, Blink's head of music videos, adds: “We’re extremely excited to have David on our music video roster. His unique approach to crafting concepts sets him apart and really embodies what we love and value at Blink.”
Bertram, who is signed to Diplomats in France and Ruffian in the US, comments that he is delighted to join Blink for representation in the UK and the Netherlands.
“When I was a creative, I spent my time looking at the work made in England, especially on the websites of production companies. - on top of my faves was Colonel Blimp... now Blink," he says. "Full circle. As a former creative, for me craft can’t be the idea, it only serves it. That’s what I love most about Blink, their passion for great ideas first and foremost, and brilliance in the execution.”
