Bookashade 'Crossing Borders' by Ryan Staake
RYAN STAAKE:
"With this video, I was interested in exploring the idea of "Crossing Borders" by showing contrasting natural & built landscapes to the viewer in a new way. In order to achieve this goal, we quickly realized it was necessary to explore new production and post processes. The entire video was shot from an aerial hexacopter flown over some of California's most visually contrasting environments. 7x GoPros were rigged in a spherical orientation dangling below the copter, allowing us to record several feeds to later stitch together into a high resolution 360 panorama in post. We then wrapped these panoramas into "Little Planet" projections, giving us the unique globelike treatment that stands as the backbone of the video. I hope people enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed making it."
