The Wombats 'Give Me A Try' by Max Weiland
Is there someone out there for you? Males and females of all shapes and sizes (and ages) put their best foot forward, up their selfie game, and search for love on a mobile dating app in this hilariously relatable directorial debut from Max Weiland for The Wombats' Give Me A Try.
A jaded, lonely girl sporting a leopard-print coat flicks through a myriad of profiles; ravers, samurai sword-enthusiasts and kitchy pet-owners begging her to give them a try. Everyone's on that mystical search for that special someone... but unfortunately this might be all they have in common.
Max was a creative at Fallon and then 18 Feet & Rising before moving into production, and has been working as a director's assistant for the last two years at Somesuch and elsewhere – recently working with Gus Van Zant and Daniel Wolfe – and writing and directing a short film, An Arms Length. On this evidence, we can expct some very good things in the future.
