Katiya Falcone 'Lust Is A Ride Through Hell' by Tash Tung
Tash Tung visualises the danger of falling for somebody who doesn’t have trustworthy intentions in an unnerving landscape for Katiya Falcone's doomladen Lust is a Ride Through Hell.
Toying with vivid colours in natural backdrops, a beautiful and eerie world tilts and fizzes in the film shot entirely on Super 8mm. New artist Katiya follows the symbolic rider unwaveringly, a journey that feels increasingly mournful.
"Lust Is A Ride Through Hell is about the first stages of falling for someone - when you know it's not safe or secure," says Katiya. "You don't know if the person feels the same way too, so you feel out of control, uncomfortable, nervous and a little bit crazy."
TASH TUNG:
"The song has an analogue sound, with a slow-burning sense of unease. Filming on Super 8 and cropping to 16:9 worked narratively and aesthetically, with fluid Dutch angles and extreme foreground shots to create a heady and slightly oppressive mood. It was great to work in this very trusting way with DOP Luke Scully. The colour grade with Tom Mangham was really fun as we got to create a vivid sense of place.”
