Maverick Sabre 'Glory' by Hector Dockrill
Hector Dockrill goes to Ballymun on Dublin's Northside, to tell real stories of young men suffering mental health issues, and the result is a moving, thought-provoking video for long-time collaborator Maverick Sabre.
Through a combination of personal testimony and footage shot on different formats, Dockrill shines a shrewd light upon the reality of depression and hints at its possible causes, including a town blighted by economic deprivation, and the traditional macho attitudes inculcated through the generaions.
And then there are the often desperate and dangerous attempts made by sufferers of mental health problems to escape their torment. A stirring piece of work for Maverick Sabre's powerful and rootsy Glory. We're featuring Dockrill's own Director's Cut.
