Marilyn Manson 'God's Gonna Cut You Down' by Tim Mattia
Rock's king of darkness proves he can pivot and do something more akin to The Man In Black in Tim Mattia's video for God's Gonna Cut You Down.
Following on from Manson's announcement earlier this year that he was to make an album more "Southern" in tone and heavily autobiographical in nature, this is a first look at the new material.
Shot in monochrome, and featuring a typically offbeat and weird performance from Manson, the video contains various references to religious iconography, blurring the line between reality and the spiritual world. Tim Mattia's exceptional craft helps Manson transition to a place far outside of his usual comfort zone, by keeping strands of his iconic style in with the new elements.
Another cracking cover version from Manson, who doesn't seem to be abandoning his shapeshifting ways anytime soon. And that's a very good thing indeed.
