Bears Den 'Above The Clouds Of Pompeii (Live)' by Gregg Houston
Gregg Houston takes a trip down memory lane in the newly-edited live video for Bear's Den, from a show a couple of years ago.
Actually shot in 2018, this presents an emotional, introspective performance of the song Above The Clouds Of Pompeii, from the band's shows at EartH in Hackney, which had just opened, accompanied by an orchestra.
The cinematography is minimalist yet incredibly effective, capturing the event from several angles, with dramatic lighting cascading over the musicians.
"The gig was part of a small run of shows, labelled "Fragments" and was based on a collaboration between Bears Den and Paul Frith who had re-arranged some of their tracks. The band complete with string and horn section played a career-spanning set that sold out the new venue and was a high-point of the live gigs I have directed for. It has only gotten round to be edited now."
