Joe Wheatley follows up his fine series of videos for Willie J Healey with an enigmatic and brooding visual for The Magic Gang's (The World) Outside My Door.

Taking place within the confines of a bedroom, the video is a slow-burning exploration of vocalist Jack's psyche, as he unravels distant memories and attempts to separate the past and present.

DoP Rik Burnell experiments with increasingly surreal lighting and angles to capture the feeling of confusion and muddled emotions, and a climactic ending reframes the former clips into something more existential and intriguing.

"Jack from The Magic Gang approached me after watching my films for Willie," says Wheatley. "He had the bones of an idea from an old episode of The Twilight Zone. I worked it up and we went in a slightly different direction to get here.

"It's a challenge to keep one location interesting, but I've been told we achieved that."
