Tiana Major9 'Think About You' by Rik Burnell
DoP Rik Burnell makes his directing debut with this engrossing black and white visual for Tiana Major9, inspired by the work of photographer Horace Ové.
Infused with a sense of style and authentic charm, the visual focuses purely on Tiana's performance, switching from industrial interiors to festival-inspired exteriors.
Burnell's choice of locations are a perfect match for the concept, feeling very much like London without any obvious signs or landmarks, capturing a palpable atmosphere and a sense of the hustle and bustle around every corner.
It felt right to try to create something that resonated how Horace Ové captured London.
"The opportunity to direct this video came mid-lockdown as a DP willing to direct - the brief was to make a film that was something very simple that could be achieved by just myself and the artist.
"I drilled into the sound system and Carnival vibe in the track, and started looking at photography of that scene. I looked at Horace Ové’s photography - his B&W images are beautiful, and it felt right to try to create something that resonated how he captured London. Finally I added a bit of fashion editorial and showbiz.
"The crew grew by a couple of extra people by the time we came to shoot, but essentially this was a very small shoot trying to be as big as possible and not reflect anything from a Covid world."
