Becky Hill 'Space' by Carly Cussen
Carly Cussen explores a tumultuous relationship in her video for Becky Hill's Space.
The minimalist concept takes place in a series of artificial environments, each designed to distort the idea of distance and space.
Open-ended staircases warp into surreal kaleidoscopes, separating the couple and their respective worlds, blocking the path back to normality. The video captures a sense of the universal isolation we are experiencing as an international community, and the fear that the world as we know it has changed forever.
Loneliness and heartbreak are common themes in many music videos, but with this project, Cussen has created something emotionally affecting and haunting, which transcends traditional pop visuals. Anthony Neale's art direction also makes a big impact, with brutalist yet functional structures which highlight the drama in the concept.
