Liv East 'Demonz' by Caroline Hajny
Caroline Hajny directs a quite literally introspective promo for Liv East, delving into the artist's psyche with distorted abandon.
The video for Demonz pays homage to the vivid aesthetic of Giallo films, focusing on bold primary colours whilst experimenting with the texture and format of 16mm film.
Anchored by a haunting performance and a similarly ethereal soundtrack, the video takes viewers on a transcendent journey of the mind - albeit, a hyper-stylised version of events.
"Liv had a really strong idea about where she wanted to go with the visuals for Demonz," explains Hajny. "To really hone in on the idea of entering Liv’s mind we decided to experiment with a lot of in camera effects and really push the format of 16mm.
"Working with Michael [Hobdell, DoP] was amazing. He’s never afraid of trying things out, so we ended up playing around with different kinds of distortions to achieve the look to represent Liv’s state of mind in the demon world."
