Majestic ft Kelsey 'Me & U' by Lu
Lu pays homage to East Asian cinema in the explosive promo for Me & U.
Featuring a series of electrifying dance sequences - intertwining fight moves with modern choreography - the visual moves at breakneck speed, as we follow a character out to settle some unfinished business.
DoP Sam Meyer nails the aesthetic, drawing inspiration from Hong Kong action films with vibrant red and gold colour palettes and frenetic camerawork.
LU:
My aim was to create a surreal dance piece that celebrates East Asian heritage.
"Had a lot of fun shooting this with Majestic and the amazingly talented crew in London.
"Majestic is such a great artist and performer to work with. My aim was to create a surreal dance piece that celebrates East Asian heritage and the beauty of Hong Kong, Japanese cinema and Asian cultures. I especially wanted to feature a predominantly Asian cast, something not often seen in western music videos.
"The cast was amazing. It was an absolute pleasure to work with my choreographer Suzette Brissett, and my two lead dancers Naomi and Nicole, to bring this strong Asian female narrative to life through their powerful movements.
"Thanks to my DoP Sam Meyer for absolutely nailing the 80s Hong Kong action movie aesthetic with a modern twist that I envisioned for this video."
