Louis Dunford 'When We Were Hooligans' by Milo Blake
Milo Blake turns Louis Dunford as the on-screen narrator of his own delinquent youth, in the cheerful and nostalgic video for When We Were Hooligans.
With Dunford as a cabbie-troubadour, recounting his past as a teenage rascal in North London, Blake reinforces the storytelling by recreating the hi-jinx of two fun-loving 14 year olds - The Riff and The Raff - with a breezy, fastmoving style and a comedic touch.
It shows the versatility of a young director who has already impressed with his UKMVA-nominated videos for Kam-Bu and Lord Apex.
MILO BLAKE:
I wanted to make our little corner of Islington feel like an additional character.
"A tale of inner city brotherhood and camaraderie, at an age when your mates are the most important thing.
"We wanted to capture how in that period it's a simpler way of life yet the smaller joys shine brighter, and the mischief you have as young men is a rite of passage.
"Both myself and Louis are from Islington, and only live about 5-10 minutes away from each other, so there was a shared connection there and locations of importance crossed path. I wanted to make our little corner of Islington feel like an additional character within the story."
